New Adventure - Cub Scouts

Cub Scouts! Yep, John and Grant started on a new Daddy and son adventure last night ... Cub Scouts! We have dear friends that were involved for the first year last year in a Dad led pack. We are excited to carve out this time for John and Grant to have some quality time learning valuable skills to mold Grant into a godly young man. Look at their website to learn more about Pack 747!

We went to round-up night last night! Here are a few pictures!

Grant and some of the others are listening to what they have in store for the year! At this time their will be eight Tiger Cubs in Grant's den.

Grant is wearing part of his new scout uniform! Thank the Lord for hand-me-downs.

Grant and John - this is going to be fun!

Friday, Aug. 17, 2007 ~ Day 2 San Diego/Los Angeles

We went back to the car rental place to get the convertible that John had reserved! Fun in the sun!

Driving up the coast ... La Jolla, CA. We just drove through here on Friday, but went here to the beach on Saturday.

A little further up the coast is the Salk Institute.
John wanted to see this for it's architectural content.

Next we drove on up the coast to Los Angeles. We ate lunch at a Mexican place and then went on the Getty Museum. WOW! What a neat place.

From the Getty we drove into Los Angeles and through Hollywood!

We went down Hollywood drive and saw a movie being filmed on a side road. We just cruised ... kind of funny! Then we put the top up and heading back to San Diego! Late night!

Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007 ~ Day 1 San Diego

Our trip started early Thursday morning. After waking up Michael and telling all of the children and Aunt Paige (MiMi) good-bye, our sweet friend, Dave took us to the airport where we at breakfast before boarding our plane.

John at breakfast ... opening a note from me!

On our FULL southwest flight we had a good time ... John shared our itinerary with me and some fun borrowed items to use on our trip ... an iPod Nano with accessories (I am hooked). I will be saving my money for a gadget! :)
When we landed we got to the car rental place that was PACKED! We waited for 30 to 40 minutes, but by that point the people getting there would be in line for at least an hour. The line was out the door. They didn't have John's reserved car, so we got something else.

Waiting for the car I was able to see this cool place ... the planes land right through the middle of the city! It looks like they are going to land on top of you and it is so loud, but really cool!

This is next to the rental car place - the planes come to the right of this building - so close that all of the building have lights on them for the planes to see at night.

A cruise ship at the port down from the rental car place.
We went on a drive across the major bridge to Coronado.
We drove to our condo and dropped our stuff off to go to the museum for 4PM.

We were waiting for the Tram to take us to the museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls on exhibit.

Fun on Day One!

A dinosaur on exhibit in the Natural History Museum in San Diego.

A shark in the museum - hanging from the ceiling.

A HUGE tree outside the museum.

The Balboa Park area around the museums.

A ballet on the open air stage in the park. Hard to focus as the planes fly over.
In another area they were having a movie night in the park! Families out with nice picnic dinners waiting for their movie to start.

Cool buildings everywhere.
From here we headed to the store and back to the condo!
What a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
