Saints vs. Colts

Well ... our house is a little divided,
BUT we will get to practice being
good winners and good losers!
Part of LIFE!
I do have to say ...
Geaux SAINTS!!!!

The Bluebird Cafe

On January 26th, we made plans to go see our friend, Paul Bogart, at The Bluebird Cafe.  This is one of our favorite venues ... a cozy place, great music without a big concert or club scene.  You always see some great talent there - the writers behind most of the songs that you hear on the radio.  So, my night started off with getting a sitter for the kids and meeting John at The Bluebird for dinner and the early show! We sat at the table with two sweet young couples from church.  These singer/songwriters in the round were great!

David Lee singing.  On one of his turns, he gave up his spot to his 11 year old daughter to come sing.  Usually she sings a song by someone else.  Tonight she song she had written a week or two before! I think we may be hearing from her in a few years! :)

Randy Montana

Of course our friend, Paul Bogart! We love to hear Paul tell the stories behind his songs!

As we are sitting at the show (you can see John in the pic above - and the top of my head, ha!) I see an advertisement for the "late" show that night.  A friend of a friend was planning, so I texted my friend and she showed up when John and I were heading out.  Since we were in two cars, I stayed to visit with LuAnn, who is working in CA for right now.  It was a benefit for Alive Hospice in Nashville, so it was sold out.  The extra seats they had were going to artists friends and family.  So I stood in the cold to visit with my sweet friend, and was one of the last people to get in.  I sat on the opposite side of the room as my friend at a table with people I didn't know.  It was another great show.  Some of the artists I liked, some were ok, but overall it was worth the late night! Some of the singer/songwriters were:  James T. Slater, Jeff Cohen, Natalie Hemby and Laura Bell Bundy.  Natalie Hemby had just found out a couple of days before that one of her songs had gone #1.  Pretty fun.
The best part of the night was just proof that Nashville is a SMALL town! :) I kept looking at this couple sitting at my table.  They looked so familiar, but I couldn't place them.  I don't go out on the town much and I just couldn't figure out where I had seen them before.  It finally (when the show was almost over) hit me that I had just seen their picture on a Christmas/New Years card from a friend back in Ruston, LA.  This was Dell's son and daughter-in-law,  Seth and Betsy.  After the show ended, I reintroduced myself to Seth - I taught his brothers in Learning Center around the time John and I got married! :) Talk about make me feel VERY old! As the story started to unwind, Seth and Betsy know my friend LuAnn and her son, Andy.  Crazy how God works things out some times!
So, I left The Bluebird Cafe at MIDNIGHT and I heard that #1 hit written by Natalie Hemby on the way home ... it was a school night, and I did sleep a little late the next morning! :) But, it was a fun memory!

A little news clip from the night.
