This weekend ... Friday Fun then Rain, Rain & More Rain

Friday was our last official day of school. We didn't take a fall break nor did we take a spring break, so with little sickness this year we were able to finish early! On Friday we had our last CBS class for the year - with the children participating in an end of the year program. When a friend sends me those pics, I will post them. They all did a great job! What a treat to see what they have learned all summarized in a program. The older three had an end-of-the-year party, which is always fun!

After CBS we headed to some friends' home WAY down in Leiper's Fork :)! My kids LOVE to go visit the Fish Family out in the sticks! They know they can run free and explore as much as they want! While we were there they rode the mule (ATV), jumped on the trampoline, roller bladed - to name just a few things they did. The last thing they played was a game of Clue. It was my kids first time to play and they are now hooked! :) Thank you Cassie and family for having us out! We enjoy hanging with you all!

We stayed a little long at the Fish home, so we had to meet John at our church for the annual Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Dinner. Every year our children's minister (and his better half) plan a wonderful appreciation dinner for all of the teachers and their spouses. They provide childcare and feed the children, so it is a special treat! Last year we missed it because we were in LA for a family reunion, so this year was extra special! Thanks, Jason and Sally and all of your helpers!

So we came home zonked and ready for bed!!!!!

Saturday morning John headed to play racquetball and to GCC for a men's gathering. He then ran a couple of errands for me and arrived home right before noon when the weather started getting worse. It started raining about 7 am at our house and it rained and rained and rained! Matter of fact, it is still lightly raining as I write! Thankfully we were home to stay, because we started hearing the awful stories from the roads around us! Massive flooding and the rain was continuing to pour! This video was taken just a few miles from our house on the interstate. Tornado watches, warnings, flood watches and warnings - wow, a stressful afternoon. We take tornado weather seriously because of past experience! When Shelby was about 2 1/2 months old, our neighborhood in north west Louisiana had a tornado come through! Scary site! So, the kids bedded down on the floor in the living room while John and I watched the storms roll in until after midnight.

This morning I was having a little trouble getting out of bed to get ready for church - until I heard the tornado sirens going off. I jumped out of bed and ran to the tv because everything sounded calm out. The news was saying that the sirens were for the northern part of our county. John and I started trying to get a plan for the morning. The rain was rolling back in and we didn't want to leave the house and get stuck out in flooding roads. We finally decided to stay and home and so glad we did. We had church at home and prayed for friends dealing with the awful flood waters. Appropriately so, Shelby's Bible verse for this week is
Daniel 4:35 -
All the peoples of the earth
are regarded as nothing.
He does as he pleases
with the powers of heaven
and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand
or say to him: "What have you done?"

WOW, what a verse to focus on as we experience this weather.

God is gracious and gave our family a sweet time of discussing HIS provision for us!

This afternoon I was finally able to nap. While I was napping my creative children were playing Legos. Shelby enjoyed the CLUE game she played on Friday (that I mentioned earlier), so she made one of Legos! Tonight after dinner we played Lego Clue on Shelby's board. Take a look! :) I love the creative minds God has given our children!

Thank the Lord for keeping us safe and dry this weekend! Praying for our friends in Nashville that are dealing with the effects of the flooding in our area!

Pictures of our back yard - it filled like this yesterday - drained overnight and refilled again today!

Finally, click here for a little song from a friend. He covers the news of the day!

Christi,
Thanks for keeping us informed.
We are so blessed you are all OK.
Thanks for the backyard video.
It's so amazing, as I have never seen the catch pond with any water in it! Stay safe.
Love,
Grandpa
